Job SummaryPerform functions to design new and modify existing tooling particularly for cold nut forming production requirements to current quality standards. DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develop estimates of company product costs to meet customer requirements involving consideration of material, tooling, machine and human resource requirements and specifications. Create new tooling required from CAD design stage through initial implementation stage including all input documentation and estimates of tool life. Monitor implementation of sample jobs and new runs involving inspection of set up tooling and initial set-up, evaluation of results generated and modify as needed.  Interface with Manufacturing Engineering for total product impact of tolerances produced and maintain documentation. Troubleshoot and evaluate all variables of tooling problems and tool life concerns as production continues with CNF foreman, lead and setup personnel and verify Engineering Assistance forms submitted by set up personnel. Prepare Engineering Change Notices (ECN) based on knowledge of requirements and/or written requests generated, review stock and open P.O.'s on modified tools for distribution; update computer system for ECN requirements. Communicate with tool suppliers to solve problems relating to manufacture, coatings and quality/tolerances as often as necessary. Assist tool crib personnel with tooling-related questions as needed. Monitor entering/updating tooling data to MRP computer as required. Adhere to company Quality Policy and follow appropriate procedures as documented in the training agreement.
