| Details:Perform work of considerable difficulty and having significant business impact, including broad range of highly technical engineering responsibilities associated with drives and motor technology (control algorithms, power electronics, cooling, power circuit and EMC design, hardware and software architecture and interface, and modulation techniques) to promote product, platform, component, assembly, system, packaging, instruction and like development, in line with business objectives and the Company¡¦s growth and efficiency strategies.Technical Focus (Electrical Engineering)+ Develop simulation models for combination of power circuits and control algorithms.+ Conduct EMC experiments and EMC mitigation techniques.+ Analyze and design power conversion circuits and equipment using active power devices (IGBTs, diodes and SCRs) and passive components (e.g., inductors, transformers, and capacitors).+ Design power circuit topologies for inverters, DC/DC converters, thyristor circuits, transformers and inductors. + Apply in-depth knowledge of architecture of power circuits, control electronics, control algorithms and mechanics involved in power conversion equipment, particularly variable speed drives.+ Apply expertise in utility interaction of power conversion equipment regarding power factor correction, harmonic mitigation, and the like.+ Utilize knowledge of control and signal conditioning circuits for analog, digital and mixed signal electronic components.+ Draw on knowledge of hardware and software architectures as applied to control of motor and power conversion equipment.+ Proficiently handle UL and IEC agency requirements and approval procedures.Business Focus (Leadership and Project Management)+ Provide technical leadership and direct technical activities of project development teams, typically inclusive of design, software and mechanical engineering or technical disciplines, in such areas as technical studies, product design, technical plans, product testing, and development or prototyping programs. + Check design, programming, and drafting work of R&D group, to ensure compliance with Company¡¦s engineering standards.+ Act as a technical resource to the R&D department and other departments to address and resolve any variety of inquiries and problems related to product development and design.+ Keep Director, R&D apprised of progress related to projects, including costs, potential savings and implementation timetable(s). + Prepare interim reports and project completion reports for review by Director, R&D and other levels of management and for feedback from other departments within the Company.+ Work with product management, component vendors, contract manufacturers, and ABB manufacturing organization during the various phases of product development.+ Maintain technical competency and remain current in changes in the industry, to further anticipate and respond to market or customer needs | ||||

Job SummaryPerform functions to design new and modify existing tooling particularly for cold nut forming production requirements to current quality standards. DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develop estimates of company product costs to meet customer requirements involving consideration of material, tooling, machine and human resource requirements and specifications. Create new tooling required from CAD design stage through initial implementation stage including all input documentation and estimates of tool life. Monitor implementation of sample jobs and new runs involving inspection of set up tooling and initial set-up, evaluation of results generated and modify as needed. Interface with Manufacturing Engineering for total product impact of tolerances produced and maintain documentation. Troubleshoot and evaluate all variables of tooling problems and tool life concerns as production continues with CNF foreman, lead and setup personnel and verify Engineering Assistance forms submitted by set up personnel. Prepare Engineering Change Notices (ECN) based on knowledge of requirements and/or written requests generated, review stock and open P.O.'s on modified tools for distribution; update computer system for ECN requirements. Communicate with tool suppliers to solve problems relating to manufacture, coatings and quality/tolerances as often as necessary. Assist tool crib personnel with tooling-related questions as needed. Monitor entering/updating tooling data to MRP computer as required. Adhere to company Quality Policy and follow appropriate procedures as documented in the training agreement.
